Fire in cupboard of four storey Ilfracombe building

Two fire engines scrambled to the scene after reports of smoke in Oxford Grove building.

ILFRACOMBE fire fighters were called to reports of smoke in a four storey building on Saturday morning.

Two fire engines were called to the scene in Oxford Grove just after 3.30pm.

Crews used breathing apparatus, a hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the flames.

Around 50 per cent of the cupboard on the first floor landing was damaged by the fire, and 75 per cent of the landing was damaged by smoke.

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
