The two fire crews arrived at the house in Woodland Close after reports of a smell of burning.

FIRE fighters were called out to a property in Woodland Close, Barnstaple on Sunday after reports of a smell of burning and smoke.

The two fire engines from Barnstaple arrived at the house at around 10.50am and found a small fire in the ground floor kitchen of the house involving the cooker hob.

All people were free and clear of the house, and the fire was extinguished using two breathing apparatus wearers and a hose reel jet.

The property was then ventilated. The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
