Final push for Barnstaple Race For Life entrants

There's still time to sign up for Barnstaple's Race For Life.

Organisers are looking for 97 more participants to help raise more money than last year for Cancer Research UK.

THE organisers behind Barnstaple’s Race For Life are making a final push to urge women in North Devon to sign up ahead of the race next month.

There are just 97 places left in this year’s 5km event, which takes place on Sunday, July 6 in Barnstaple.

Already 1,403 women have signed up and entries close on Friday, July 4.

Last year 1,471 women took part and helped to raise a total of £61,533 for Cancer Research UK. This year the charity hopes to beat that.

Ruth Chamings, event manager for Race for Life in Devon, said: “We are very grateful to the women who have already entered Race for Life in Barnstaple.

“But we still have places left so we are urging women to sign up as soon as possible.

“Race for Life is not competitive and it’s not about being fit or fast. It’s about thousands of women coming together to show cancer who’s boss.”

Women can also boost their contribution to Cancer Research UK’s work by doing a ‘wardrobe work-out’ before their event.

The charity is encouraging them to sort out and bag up hidden treasures such as quality clothes, books and accessories they no longer use and take them to the donation station at Race for Life.

Each bag of goods could help raise up to £30 for groundbreaking research.
