ENVIRONMENTAL Health experts say they are ‘satisfied’ with B&M’s response to a rat investigation.

Last week, the Gazette revealed that the discount store, in Coney Avenue, was being investigated following complaints of rats around the shop.

Andy Cole from Environmental Protection said: “We are satisfied with the measures that B&M has so far taken.

“This includes extensive treatment carried out by a pest control contractor and proofing of their building.

“We will continue to monitor the situation whilst the investigation is open.”

B&M has stated that the rodents from the nearby canal had ‘entered the perimeter of the store’s grounds’ and that all stock from the warehouse had been removed and disposed of to minimise the risk of contamination.

The company also said they were ‘working closely with Rentokil’ to eradicate the problem.
