Exercise tomorrow (Friday) will demonstrate to residents how to protect against flooding.

THE Environment Agency will be hosting a ‘sandbagging’ event in Braunton tomorrow (Friday) evening.

Fire fighters will also be involved in the demonstration in Caen Street overflow car park at 6.30pm, providing water for the demonstration.

Agency staff will be showing people the correct procedure for sandbagging doorways to prevent domestic flooding.

Chris Pedlar, field services specialist team member from the Environment Agency said: “Over the last 12 months the North Devon Field Team have been working very closely with Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service and other first responder groups in North Devon.

“As part of this we have been rolling out presentations to local crews, the police and local communities on the correct procedure for individual property flood protection using sandbags and a plastic membrane.

“This demonstration in Braunton is another great example of partnership working between us and Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service within the community.”

This event is free to anyone who would like to attend.
