Plans for the Hollow Panson windfarm near Holsworthy are expected to be submitted before the end of the year.

An energy company has announced it will cut the height of six proposed turbines for the Hollow Panson wind farm.

EDF Energy Renewables is expected to submit a planning application to Torridge District Council for the site east of the A388 between Launceston and Holsworthy by the end of the year.

The company announced it will reduce the height of the turbines proposed for the scheme by 11.5 metres, meaning each turbine would have a tip height of 115 metres.

The plans were originally to have seven turbines, but this was reduced to six in advance of public consultations held earlier this year.

Tim Wheeler, onshore wind development manager for EDF Energy Renewables, said: “Since unveiling our plans to establish a wind farm at Hollow Panson earlier this year, we have continued to carry out on-site surveys and have sought local community feedback on the proposals.

“As a result of this work we can now confirm that it is our intention to proceed with proposals to establish a six turbine wind farm on the site, but that the overall height of the turbines will be reduced from that originally proposed.

“This is in response to concerns about the impact of the proposal on the landscape.”

It is estimated the wind farm, if approved, will generate enough low carbon electricity to power more than 6,000 homes.
