The ice bucket challenge has reached North Devon’s emergency services after Appledore Lifeboat Station took part in the challenge – and made some interesting nominations.

The social media sensation has seen thousands of people, including a number of A-list celebrities, posting videos to Facebook of themselves getting drenched and nominating friends to do the same to raise money for the ALS Association.

And after their effort this week, Appledore Lifeboat Station has nominated Appledore Fire Service, coastguards at Appledore and Instow, the crew of Rescue 169, the Bideford Police force and lifeboat staff at Clovelly and Ilfracombe.

The craze also reached holidaycottages.co.uk in Bideford this week, where dozens of employees lined up to get a soaking for charity.
