Elderly couple cut from car after it hit building

Fire crews had to remove the car roof after the Vauxhall Corsa hit a telegraph pole and then a building.

TWO elderly people were trapped inside a car after it hit a telegraph pole and crashed into a building in Witheridge this afternoon (Fri).

The incident involving a blue Vauxhall Corsa occurred on Church Street around 3.30pm.

Fire crews from Witheridge and Chulmleigh arrived at the scene and set to work removing the elderly couple using hydraulic cutting gear and small tools.

The man and woman were believed to be in shock but received were no life threatening or life changing injuries.

The car was written off in the incident and the building received minor damage.
