People across North Devon felt the earth move today (Saturday) after an earth tremor hit the UK.

The quake at 2.31pm measured 4.4 on the Richter scale and had an epicentre of about 20 kilometres north of Swansea, the British Geological Survey has reported.

Reports have flooded in across social media, with many people asking ‘did we just have an earthquake?’

On the Gossip Around Ilfracombe page, Susan Angell posted ‘My whole house just shook, anyone else?’

Others reported effects of the earthquake in Berrynarbor, Combe Martin, Woolacombe, Chivenor, Braunton, Bideford and across North Devon.

It is estimated around 10 millions people across the UK would have felt the tremor, with other reports from around the South West, Wales and the Midlands.

Here in North Devon there have been no reports of any damage so far.
