In a separate incident at 3.20pm, police were searching for a woman whose welfare they were concerned for.

The 42-year-old from the Bideford area had threatened to jump off a bridge so officers set out to search for her.

The woman was located safe and well in Bideford at 4.15pm and an ambulance was called to assist.
