North Devon Council says it will pay half the £25,000 cost after disagreeing with Parkwood Leisure over who should pay.
POOL REPAIRS: North Devon Council is proposed to pay half of the £25,000 cost of the repairs to Ilfracombe Swimming Pool.
The water suddenly drained out of the pool in January and in a report to its executive committee today (Tuesday) the council has been recommended to pay £12,500 for repairs to corroded pipework.
The report said the council and pool operator Parkwood Leisure were in dispute over who should foot the bill for repairs, and advises paying half to avoid ‘a costly and protracted legal battle with Parkwood’, as well as delays to reopening the pool.
The work would replace the outlet pipe at the pool, broken tiles and protect the inlet pipe against corrosion.
