Archant

AN off-road mobility scooter is now available to hire at Fremington Quay so that disabled people can go off the beaten track a bit more.

The Tramper can go through mud, water, snow and up or down steep slopes, which means people with mobility problems can experience far more in the area, including the nearby Home Farm Marsh nature reserve.

A new entrance is being created at Home Farm Marsh on to the Tarka Trail. It will be designed to be suitable for Trampers and will lead on to a loop path that takes people towards the estuary and around the site, so people can see the farmland, wild flowers and estuary birds. Stopping and viewing areas will be created at four points along the path to provide the best spots to soak up the wildlife.

Local councillor Rodney Cann has helped to fund the Tramper from his Devon County Council locality budget.
