Plans submitted for new ‘non-food’ unit by Costa Coffee and PC World – but developers unable to say which firm might be coming to the town
Plans have been submitted for a new ‘non-food’ retail unit at the Barnstaple Retail Park on Station Road – but developers have not revealed which company could be coming to the town.
Agents acting on behalf of the applicant Hercules Income Fund said discussions were still ‘ongoing’ with potential occupiers for the proposed unit at the former Calor Gas service yard, behind Costa Coffee.
Permission is also being sought for an ‘auto centre’; an extension to the rear of the Topps Tiles store; a car park extension; and a new access point at the leisure centre end of the retail park.
A similar application for the same site was approved by North Devon Council in January last year.
A planning statement submitted as part of the latest application said the proposed development would create approximately 25 full-time jobs.
Separate plans to install a mezzanine floor in the unit occupied by PC World are currently being considered by council planners.
