Stagecoach joins Chemo Appeal to host fun day and promote its new 21 service.

A free fun day hosted by Stagecoach at Barnstaple Square on Friday for the Chemotherapy Appeal proved a hit with families.

The event was held to support the appeal but also to unveil the company’s new look 21 service, which will incorporate the former Georgeham and Croyde 308 route.

Youngsters and their families were able to enjoy free face painting plus balloon animals, entertainment and magic from the versatile Ozzy D, as well as clamber aboard the double decker bus parked up on the Square.

The Voice FM also kept the crowds well entertained throughout the day, while fundraising staff sold tickets for the big Chemo Appeal raffle to win a car.

Richard Scant, operations manager for Stagecoach North Devon, said they had donated a golden Mega Rider ticket to the appeal, entitling people to travel free anywhere on Stagecoach South West for an entire year.

“Our support of Big Purple Day was very successful so we wanted to involve the appeal, as so many will benefit from the new unit,” he said.

Fundraising manager Ian Roome thanked all at Stagecoach for their support and giving something back to the community.
