Crews from the fire service and coastguard worked together to rescue a dog which had fallen 15 metres over a cliff edge.

A SCARED casualty was rescued from a cliff ledge on yesterday afternoon (Sun), and returned safely with a wagging tail to its owners.

Two fire engines from Ilfracombe and a special rescue team from Barnstaple were called to the Upper Torrs coastal path in Ilfracombe after reports a dog had fallen over the cliff face.

The crews arrived at around 4.30pm to find the Irish Staffie on a ledge approximately 15 metres over the cliff edge, but had to wait for the Coastguard to arrive to begin the rescue.

The fire and coastguard teams worked together to rescue the dog, who was reunited with his owners when safely on stable ground.
