Town and Parish (TAP) funding available for parish and town councils working together.

MORE than £50,000 in funding has been made available for towns and parishes in Torridge to encourage them to work together.

Devon County Council and Torridge District Council set up a joint Town and Parish (TAP) Fund to give grants to parishes working in partnership.

The money may be used or capital or revenue costs, or for a new project or service.

Devon County Council has provided £1 for every elector in the district and Torridge has topped up this amount by 10 pence per elector, bringing the total fund for 2014/15 to £57,367.

Cllr Philip Collins, leader of Torridge, said: “We want to see local parishes working together for the benefit of all, sharing ideas and improving their communities.

“The money will only be there until next April, so I urge parishes to get their applications in sooner rather than later.”

Applications will only be accepted from two or more Parishes working in partnership. Registered charities, social enterprises, voluntary and not-for-profit community organisations can also apply through their town or parish council.
