Standards board finds councillor guilty after he claimed a number of ‘erroneous’ expenses.
A Torridge District Councillor has been found guilty of bringing the council into disrepute by making a number of erroneous expenses claims.
Councillor Andy Boyd, who represents Torrington ward, claimed mileage expenses from both the county and district council between February 2012 and July 2013.
Council leader Philip Collins said: “The standards committee has imposed the maximum sanctions it can in this case and has requested that the audit and governance committee consider the adoption of a procedure for the cross-checking of expense claims by dual-hatted members so this unlikely to happen in the future.”
