Archant

Rain did not stop play for Friday night’s Combe Martin Carnival 2017

Vera Lynn, strongmen and the Punkettes were among the imaginative entries for Combe Martin Carnival tonight (Friday).

With a smaller carnival week this year the main parade was moved to the Friday for the first time, but plenty of people turned out to support it.

Clever entries included the James family celebrating 30 years of carnival entries with a mishmash of costumes, the Punkettes recreating the Sex Pistol look and a lively Chitty Chitty Bang Bang float.

Rain didn’t dampen the enthusiasm too much, though it may have caused some make up to run.

If you’re in the village, there is live music later tonight at The Castle Inn from 10pm with punksters Falling Apart.

Tomorrow (Saturday) there is a car show at the Pack O’ Cards on Saturday at 10am, followed by the Duck Race at 3pm.
