Westward Ho! Coastguard keeps watch at seafront while people watch high tides crash in to sea wall.
THE Coastguard has issued a safety warning to people getting too close to the huge swells hitting the North Devon Coast.
Westward Ho! Coastguard has kept watch at the waterfront and sea wall during the high tides on the last three evenings to ensure the public remain safe.
A spokesman for Westward Ho! Coastguard said: “Pictures have started to circulate of people having fun on the sea wall by the arcades.
“While getting splashed by the waves can be very fun, it can go from being great fun to being a dangerous situation in moments.
“The sea is powerful enough to throw up pebbles from the beach on the car park and sea wall.
“If a wave caught you and has these pebbles in, they can cause some damage.”
