Joshua Jarrett, 18, will be one of the youngest runners of this year’s London Marathon

Chivenor teenager Joshua Jarrett will be one of the youngest running this year’s London Marathon.

Joshua, who will be aged 18 years and 22 days on Sunday, had his sights set on running the marathon since 2010, but didn’t realise at the time that entrants had to be aged 18 and over.

He will be taking part for the charity Spinal Research, as his granddad suffers from life-limiting spinal injuries.

His granddad has to lie down for three to four hours every afternoon, with the only current option being surgery in America.

Josh has decided not to raise money specifically to fund a trip for the operation, but instead chose to raise money so that other people suffering from spinal injuries can be cared for.
