Chivenor’s original Military Wives join Gareth Malone and War Horse puppets for a one off World War One commemorative Proms concert at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday (August 3).

A quartet of original Chivenor Military Wives Choir members will be teaming up with celebrity choirmaster Gareth Malone again on Sunday for a special Royal Albert Hall prom.

Nicky Scott, Sharon Bristow, Katherine Catchpole and Jo Millthorpe will be part of a 100-strong Proms Military Wives Choir to mark the eve of the 100th Anniversary of the day Britain entered the war.

In a first for the BBC Proms, the choir will also be joined by life-size puppets from the National Theatre’s production of War Horse by Michael Morpurgo.

The choir will be directed by Gareth and made up of singers from 42 different choirs in the Military Wives Choirs Foundation network.

The story of the Proms Military Wives Choir coming together for the commemorative sell-out concert is also being made into a two-part documentary, to be shown on the BBC later in the year.
