Driver taken to hospital after car veered into hedge on ‘misty’ morning.

The A39 was closed this morning (Friday) after a car left the road and careered into a hedge near Clovelly.

Police received reports at 6.54am that the vehicle had left the road outside London Lodge and entered a wooded area.

Officers arrived at the scene along with the fire and ambulance services and found the driver with minor injuries.

He was taken to North Devon District Hospital as a precaution complaining of back pain.

A police spokesman said the scene had been very ‘misty’ when emergency services had arrived.

The road was clear and passable by 8.21am.
