Denny’s Memorial Bike Show will be held on April 23 in memory of Barnstaple bike enthusiast Dennis Pilon.
Two Barnstaple sisters are arranging a bike show in memory of their motorbike-loving father.
Hundreds of bikers brought the town to a standstill in September for the funeral of Dennis Pilon, and now his family are hoping they will do the same for this new show.
Sharon Neve and Elaine Geraghty, who own Tooter’s Diner in Barnstaple, are organising the Denny’s Memorial Bike Show.
On April 23 – the day before their dad’s birthday – they are hoping bikers will flood Jewsons car park in Barnstaple for the show.
Entry will be £3 per bike or trike, and there will be prizes in each class as well as an overall Denny’s Memorial Trophy.
Sharon said: “We are hoping for it to be an annual event so we’re having a Denny’s Memorial Trophy made with bits of his spare bike parts/tools, etc.
“He would always say, ‘I’ll make that for you,’ and often made things for us out of the bits and bobs he had lying around – so we thought this was a suitable tribute.”
Sharon said she hopes the show will outgrow the venue and become an annual event.
She added: “The support from the biking community has just been incredible.
“We are still overwhelmed by how many people turned out to dad’s funeral and we really hope as many people as possible will come to this memorial show.”
All proceeds raised on the day will go to Over and Above.
