A ‘CAN’T Cook, Won’t Cook’ competition held in Bideford this weekend has been hailed as a success by organisers.

Families gathered in Bideford Pannier Market on Saturday to watch a cookery demonstration before getting stuck in creating the dish themselves.

Youngsters, with the help of their parents, conjured up a stir fry using professional equipment under the watchful eye of local chefs.

Town Councillor David Howell, who organised the event, said he was very pleased with how the day went as it was the first event of its kind in the town.

“We had about nine families taking part and they had some great fun,” he said.

“We are already talking about doing another couple of these events throughout the year.”

The day also included a Bake Off where two categories – over 11s and under 11s, competed to whip up the best bread, scones and cupcakes.

“Some of the entries were fantastic, we were very impressed,” added Cllr Howell.
