Staff turn £50 into £4,200 during ‘Apprentice’-style challenge.
BATTLING solicitors at a North Devon legal firm have turned £200 into £4,200 for Children’s Hospice South West.
Brewer Harding & Rowe offices in Barnstaple, Bideford, Braunton and Ilfracombe were each given £50 and spent three months trying to outdo each other with a series of fundraisers for the charity.
The team at the Bideford office won the Apprentice-style challenge, ringing up an impressive £1,500 at the end of the challenge.
The branch organised two table top sales, held raffles and sold items on eBay. They also sold a selection of second-hand paperbacks in the reception area.
The Barnstaple branch held an in-house home produce market and an auction at Barnstaple Rugby Club, while the Ilfracombe and Braunton offices held a competition to guess the date, time and weight of a colleague’s baby.
All of the solicitors throughout the four offices kept ‘swear pots’
Practise manager Wendy Johnson said: “This has been a brilliant team effort and we are delighted with the response from all of our fabulous staff, their friends and families, all of our clients and business that donated.”
She added: “The hospice was delighted to receive our cheque and we are very proud to support such a fabulous cause.
“We were given a tour of the facilities at the hospice in Fremington; it was good to go along and see the facilities that are available to families in their hours of need, all funded through donations.
“We were surprised what a bright and happy place this was and were happy to see that many families use this facility for respite and attend many times.”
