New plans for an ‘apartment hotel’ of holiday lets submitted for former Narracott Grand site.
Developers are bidding to change planning permission for the former Narracott Grand Hotel at Woolacombe.
Instead of a 32-bed hotel plus 40 apartments already approved, Blast Properties is now applying to create an ‘apartment hotel’ with 55 holiday lets.
It said projected trading figures for the original plan did not justify the £1.5m cost of the refurbishment, while a conventional hotel on to Beach Road did not offer adequate amenities or access to guests.
Developers also said changes in floor levels throughout the hotel plan already approved by North Devon Council would make it ‘impossible to accommodate people with disabilities’.
The new proposals include reception and administration area, restaurant and basement level parking.
