Beach cleaners pick up a tonne at Crow

Christie Estates and North Devon Biosphere join forces to tackle estuary beach after storms fill it with debris.

More than a tonne of rubbish was collected from the beach at Crow Point on Braunton Burrows after Christie Estates teamed with North Devon’s Biosphere Service on Saturday.

Volunteers and staff collected hundreds plastic bottles, sections of fishing net, polystyrene, a loo seat and the end of a surfboard, piling a large trailer high in the process.

“Thanks to Christie Estate and the North Devon Biosphere Service for helping to keep our beaches cleaner,” said ranger and education officer Estates Rupert Hawley.
