Pilton pupils designated centre of excellence in new government learning programme.
PILTON Community College has become a designated centre of excellence as part of a new programme to develop pupils’ approach to global learning.
The Barnstaple school is one of around 140 schools to sign up to the government-funded Global Learning Programme (GLP).
Students will learn about global trade, security, sustainability and development.
Principal Louise Miller-Marshall said: “We are thrilled to have received this award and be able to share good practice in our local community.
“Internationalism is central to the school ethos at Pilton. It is vital that in today’s global economy young people from Devon are given the opportunity to interact with fellow students from every corner of the globe.”
As an ‘expert centre’ the school will be granted funding of up to £5,000 to build a local network of like-minded schools and drive global learning across the curriculum.
