The 44-year-old was found to have 148 diazepam tablets when police raided his Barnstaple home.

A MAN who ‘self prescribed’ himself diazepam appeared in court on Friday after police raided his home and found 148 tablets.

Officers discovered the Class C drug in Colin Johnstone’s bedroom at his home in Rock Park Terrace, Barnstaple, on November 2.

The court heard the 44-year-old had purchased the drugs that day because he had previously been prescribed them and felt he needed them.

After the drugs were seized, Johnstone visited his doctor where he was correctly prescribed the medication.

Magistrates imposed a 12 month conditional discharge, and ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the drugs.
