Factory worker and chef wife from Barnstaple will be the subject of Channel Four programme tomorrow (Wednesday).

A BARNSTAPLE couple are set to appear on Channel Four’s Secret Eaters today (Wednesday).

Glyn and Louise Smale, as well as Glyn’s mum Sue from Cardiff, applied for the programme which explore the nation’s relationship with food.

Glyn, a night shift manager at Perrigo in Braunton, has battled with his weight for 10 years and has struggled to shift his 22 stone weight.

His wife Louise is a chef and believes her and Glyn eat healthily, so is puzzled as to why they keep piling on the pounds.

A spokesman for programme producers Endemole said: “With the family tree mysteriously creaking under its own weight they are desperate to get to the root of the problem and so they agree to surveillance cameras being rigged inside their home to capture what they eat.

“With a crack PI team following the Smale trail outside the house, if Glyn, Louise and Sue scoff it, our spies will spot it and it’s not long before evidence soon emerges of a family who like to feast.

“From stomach stretching sausage sarnies to oil drenched salads that’s more crude than food, this trio take deluded dining to another level.

“Will a big fat of reality put this calorie confused clan back on track?”

The programme, presented by Anna Richardson, will air tomorrow at 8pm on Channel Four.
