A group of Park Community School students have learnt the skills needed to become fire fighters.
A group of students from The Park Community School have been put through their paces as fire fighters.
The pupils took part in a week-long Phoenix project, designed to improve their self-confidence, team-working and communication skills.
The course, which is part-funded by Barnstaple Rotary Club, culminated with a passing out parade on Friday, where the team put their skills to the test in front of friends and family.
Lead instructor Julie Lamb said: “It’s all about teamwork, respect, discipline and team building - it’s a huge thing we do in the fire service.
“The course has been physically and mentally challenging, but the effort they have put into this has been fantastic.”
Kai Marlow-Brown was one of the students involved in the project, and thanked those that had made the course possible.
He said: “What we’ve learned is something we’re never going to forget and hopefully it will take us further in life.”
