Ben On Foot is available for pre-order through crowd funding site Kickstarter.

AN optician who went from a running novice to taking on a 130-mile challenge from Barnstaple to Bristol last year has written a book about his experience.

Ben On Foot describes in his own words how 29-year-old Ben Brewer went from ‘non-runner to ultra-runner’ in 12 months and will be released in September.

But first Ben, from Barnstaple, is using a crowd funding website to ask people to back his writing venture by pre-ordering limited editions of the book.

By making a pledge on his Kickstarter site before August 31, backers can receive anything from a signed copy to their name as a contributor in the book itself.

And with less than a month to go, Ben has already exceeded his £250 target with a total of £391 pledged by 21 backers.

“It’s been incredible,” he told the Gazette.

“People who have not only supported the run I did last year, but also just followed my progress as a runner in general, have all been coming out of the woodwork.

“I hope it will appeal to someone who wants to find some inspiration for their own running (or some other challenge); someone who feels like they could shoot for a difficult goal of their own; or just someone who wants to read a good story about the ups and downs of going from non-runner to ultra-runner.”
