Thousands attend Barnstaple Round Table firework spectacular

Annual Bonfire Night show at the rugby club raises around £5,000 for local good causes.

The annual fireworks display at Barnstaple Rugby Club on Sunday night has been hailed a huge success by organisers.

Barnstaple Round Table had urged people not to watch the show from the Taw Bridge due to safety concerns; and while some still did, many thousands of people packed the Pottington Road ground to soak up the atmosphere of the family-friendly event.

An estimated 1,900 people were treated to a spectacular display, choreographed by Okehampton-based Two Tigers Fireworks.

Round Table chairman Nick Tamlin said the event cleared its costs, and with ticket sales and bucket donations, raised upwards of £5,000 for local good causes.

He said: “It was a brilliant event and we had a really good turn-out. The display by Two Tigers was phenomenal.

“Thanks also to Barnstaple Rugby Club for use of the venue.

“We’d like to hear from local charities and clubs interested in applying for some of the money raised Plesae get in touch through our website – www.barnstapleroundtable.co.uk – or via our Facebook page.

“And if any men aged 18 to 45 are interested in joining Round Table, please get in touch, we’d love to hear from you.”
