Picture special: South West Birdman takes off once more.

FLYING pigs, aliens, a ‘human centipede’ and an airborne Wurzel – it could course only mean one thing…

South West Birdman swooped back into Ilfracombe on Sunday as those optimistic men (and women) in their flying machines once again proved the existence of gravity.

The annual Ilfracombe Round Table event saw the pier packed with people to enjoy live music, sideshows, North Devon Toughest Towns contest and watch 16 crazily costumed entrants perform swan dives for charity.

Even headliners The Wurzels got into the birdman spirit – having already written a ‘Dungspreader Birdman Anthem’ in honour of the event, Wurzel keyboard player Louie Gribble and his friends Mark ‘Mendips’ Noton and Chris Shave also took the plunge.

Ilfracombe Round Table would like to thank all those who supported the event and the volunteers for all their hard work.
