the Tosel /Shaddocks / Coles / Middleton / Myddleton / Meddletons of Tawtock/Bideford/Fremmington, Horwood & Newton Tracey.
Any info would be great. On this side of the family tree I've got back as far as Hugh Meddleton (born Bideford 1739) marrying Dorcus Tossel in 1755 in Bideford(?). Their offspring Robert Middleton/Meddleton married Mary Coles (mother's maiden name Shaddock) in Fremmington in 1802. Robert died in 1853 and is buried in Newton Tracey. Their offspring another Robert Middleton was born in 1807 in Tawstock, and either married / co-habited with Canadian born Ellen Haddock in the later 1830's after Robert saw military service in North America. Robert died in 1883 in Littleham near Bideford and is believed buried in the local church. Ellen's death date / burial whereabouts are unknown.
Ellen and Robert had a son called James who was born in Littleham in or about 1846. James later joined the Royal Marines and settled in South Wales after discharge from the service.
Any information on these family names connected with these locations woukld be much appreciated. Also the Reeds of Church Street Braunton.

Hi Geoff, I don't know if you are still reading these messages but here you go - Elaine Shaddock lived at 176 Stucley Road, Bideford in the late 1960's/early 1970's. She was one of a family of about 5/6 kids, mostly boys. Hope it helps.
