How typical of local government's utter contempt for the public is Devon County Council's attitude towards the possibility of putting a mobile phone mast on the roof of Barnstaple's Civic Centre, which it owns. Not a chance, was the reply, because the staff wouldn't like it! Masts can be put up anywhere else, it seems, but not in their own back yard. Why? Do they know something that the rest of us don't? Is there really a chance that these masts cause damage to health? If there is, we should be told. If there isn't, then plaster the Civic Centre with the damn things and take them away from residential areas
Of course they are worried about the risk to themselves, very much like what`s going on in america where many health workers are refusing the swine flu vaccine on the grounds that the one they are using has far more in it than the actual vaccine tested. I still think the use of mobile phones has a detremental effect (at least) to health.
Why do people *** and moan about mobile phone masts?! I bet 99 % of you have mobiles regularly clamped to the side of your head! The health risk from RF (radio frequency) next to your tample's is far greater than that of a mast in your proximity!
Bandwagon and NIMBY are two phrases that spring to mind. People make all these comments with regard to health risks and have absolutly no knowledge of either health or RF!
