Yes, I think I remember the article in the Sidmouth Herald last year - the owner of 'Delderfields' said he was probably going to close down around April (2009) after he had to pay a fine resulting from a prosecution by the Fire Brigade for not adhering to fire regulations. Thats another empty premises then.
Haven't heard anything about 'Knights' though - they are having a sale at the moment (but isn't everybody!!).
'Stead & Simpson' appear to be having a Sale citing the closure of their central warehouse - does this mean that the shop/chain is closing down, they will get their stock from elsewhere or another ruse to disguise the common 'sale'?

Walked past 'Delderfields' yesterday and it looked as though fresh stock had arrived - loads of boxes of mugs etc down the side of the premises. It certainly doesn't look as though they're emptying the shelves yet.
I was wondering whether the old Woolworths site is being looked at by Tesco in order that they may increase their floor space and offer more than they currently sell at the small Tesco Express.
How would it destroy the town Violet? Anything would be better than the eyesore of a large empty shop with piles of junk mail building up behind the doors. Wouldn't it?

Well - its' the new tax year and 'Delderfields' is still trading - perhaps the owners' comments back along were to overshadow the humiliation of being prosecuted by the Fire Brigade - they won't be closing!
